Employee Relations Specialist at Surgeforce Group

In June of 2017, I was taken by surprise from my now boss, Brenda Tayim, when she emailed me one morning while working at iForce. Terrified that I was about to be reprimanded by the Human Resources Manager, I met with her that afternoon. She sat me down in her office and said she heard that I've been wanting to get into HR. With a HUGE sigh of relief, I said, "Yes!" A week later, I started my new position with Surgeforce Group as a part time Employee Relations Specialist.

My first month flew by as I was just working part time. They weren't sure how long it would take to become a full time employee or if it were even an option. I was taking all of my tasks by the reigns and just going for it! There was a TON of filing and reorganizing that needed done, so that was a major project for me. I also answered phone calls and hundreds of emails a day (that's no exaggeration) and trained on the daily attendance. At the end of the month, Brenda pulled me into her office and offered me to be full time! She said that I had went above and beyond her expectations and they went ahead and decided to go ahead and make me full time!

As a full time employee, I was then able to take on new hires and terms as my main focus. I'd communicate with the new hires to make sure that all of their paperwork is completed correctly and that they have access to anything they need. I'd also need to stay in contact and follow up with the hiring managers to ensure that they are staying compliant with the new hire paperwork and process. For terms, I'd shut off their access, sometimes speak with the employee, turn off their benefits, and make sure we're complying with their state law. While being full time, Brenda gave me more duties than the others in the department such as running reports, working on projects, insurance, and Non-FMLA and FMLA paperwork. I was also given the responsibility of training any and all new hires in the HR department for their first three months. I'd train them on attendance, the new HR system as we switched from a paper to paperless department at the beginning of the year.

I'm incredibly thankful for iForce/Surgeforce Group for giving me the opportunity to advance my career and switch from a Staffing Specialist to an Employee Relations Specialist so quickly.
